Pupil Premium
Central primary school servES a diverse community in the centRE of WATFORD.
We currently attract pupil premium funding for 19.1% of our pupils. Statistical data shows the percentage of EAL pupils at Central is at 74%, this is significanlty above the national average (21%) and the school is amongst the 20% most deprived neighbourhoods in the country (IMD 2019).
We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school in which everyone’s needs are considered, diversity is valued and all achievements are celebrated. We believe it is our role to build on the children’s experiences and provide life enhancing opportunities so our young people become empowered, mindful citizens who are ambitious and strive to succeed.
Our intention is that all pupils, irrespective of their background or the challenges they face, make good progress and achieve high attainment across the curriculum, particularly in reading and maths. The focus of our pupil premium strategy is to support disadvantaged pupils to achieve that goal, including progress for those who are already high attainers.
We choose to believe that all children can succeed and have therefore decided that our ambition is that no child will be side-lined; we may not reach our target of 100% success but we are absolutely willing to try.
We put children at the centre of everything we do.
The attached Pupil Premium Strategy Statements and review documents include the details of how we are improving outcomes for PP pupils.
