This year, the year six’s have been working towards two marionette puppet shows for their end of year play. The Young People’s Puppet Theatre Company (YPPT) has been working throughout the year with the classes in all the different aspects of theatre production; from using clay to create the puppets heads to textiles for their costumes, painting the sets to working back stage. All of their hard work has culminated in the children being able to completely take the lead when performing the two shows. This year, the children will be performing the classic children’s fairy-tale ‘Rumpelstiltskin’ and ‘Webs, Witches and the Spider Queen’ by Deborah Nash. It has been an incredibly exciting process and experience which all the children have loved to be a part of.
As part of their work with YPPT the children also wrote a press release about their upcoming show. Below an example written by Smite.
Smite Year 6
The year six of central primary school and Young People’s Puppet Theatre have come together the re-create the well-known fairy-tale ‘ Rumpelstiltskin’. We would love for you all to come. ‘Rumpelstiltskin’ is about a young girl who a prince falls in love with; although the King isn’t so sure about her. The young girl’s father caught himself in a big lie which creates a problem for their future. We have spent all year creating our marionette puppets from scratch as well as all the sets, props and costumes and would love for you everyone to come and watch on Thursday 26th May 2019 at 6pm. We hope to see you there.
If you have not yet booked your ticket to the Puppet show, you can do it through Eventbrite.
