Writing our own version of Brown Bear! Brown Bear! in Year 1

In Year 1 this week, we have been looking at the story of “Brown Bear! Brown Bear!” We started the week by listening to the original story, then we read Mr Jaffer’s own version of the story. From this we looked at special vocabulary words and analysed these.

Next we focused on alliteration and read some tongue twisters and even created a few of our own! Have a go at reading some that we tried. It’s not as easy as it looks!

‘She sells sea shells on the sea shore’ and ‘Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers’.

We then planned our own version of Brown Bear! Brown Bear!, where we aimed to use alliteration in not only our noun phrases but also thought of verbs to add to our sentences too.

Our final stage of English this week was to write our own version of Brown Bear! Brown Bear! The children worked very hard to include their alliteration and to continue the repeated phrase in their stories.

Take a look at some of the pictures below to see our learning journey in English this week!
