This week, the entire school began work on our new writing unit based around the book ‘The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse’ by Charlie Mackesy.
After our time away from school, our friends and our colleagues during lockdown, this is a wonderful way to celebrate bringing everyone together again for the new school year with a shared project.
The book is a beautifully illustrated story of hope, triumph over adversity and the importance of friendship and was chosen because it links so closely to our school learning attributes.
Today we began by reading the book in our classes and using our Oracy skills to discuss how the book links to our values of hope, persistence, forgiveness, curiosity and kindness.
Over the next two weeks, each class will be creating their own illustrations inspired by the book, and then become authors to plan and write a range of different types of extended writing based upon the text.
The finished work will be displayed around the school to share with our whole Central Primary family!
