Summer Term in Forest Class

Our focus Artist for the half term was ‘Amira Gale’. We investigated all about her life and Artistic style.

We then explored a range of techniques including overlapping and layering which were used to create our final pieces.

In Maths we have been consolidating our understanding of the four operations. We have been working hard to develop our fluency and reasoning skills.

In English we have been learning about reports. We analysed key vocabulary and identified the structural and grammatical features of this text type. Finally, we planned and wrote our own reports about crocodiles.

In RE we have been learning about Christianity and Judaism.

We learnt about Shabbat and watched a video to see how this is celebrated in the Jewish community. After that, we held our own special gathering and shared food.

In DT we were set the challenge of creating  vehicles that could travel across continents.

We followed instructions to create vehicles and used our oracy skills to talk about their features. Finally we designed, built and evaluated our own vehicles.

This half term, we have learnt about a range of significant women who have contributed to national and international achievements.

We analysed how these contributions are still relevant to our everyday lives. Finally, we  used our knowledge to create fact files.

In computing we have been learning about the history of communication and how it has developed.

In PE with Miss Evans we have been developing our fitness and working on a range of skills including balance and coordination.

In Science we have been learning about and comparing the basic needs of humans and animals.
