This term, Year 5 have been trialling a new way of recording our science learning. We have been using notebooks to develop our creativity, thinking and working scientifically skills.
Our notebooks are very different from the usual exercise books that you might be used to seeing. They enable the children to record their previous knowledge on their “own page “ in a style of note-taking of their own choosing. Some children like to draw pictures with labels, whilst others write notes, bullet points, draw timelines or even sketch out scientific diagrams.
This style of working encourages independent learning skills and problem solving techniques, which prepare them for their learning in later year groups, into secondary school and beyond.
