Busy week in Avocado

As we come to the end of this busy week we wanted to send you a short update of what has been happening in Avocado Class. From this point on, we will be updating and sharing our news, including some photos, on our Twitter pages (@MrsBeaufort & @MrsDixit2) so please do take a look! (You do not have to have your own Twitter account to do this)

The children have settled in so well and have formed a great social group. We have been so impressed with how engaged they have been with their learning, despite a normal school day being something many of them haven’t had to do for a very long time!

We have had lots of discussions and activities regarding well-being and recognising and managing our emotions and I am confident that the children feel that they can talk to any of us if they feel worried at any point or have any questions.

Our focus book in English as you know is “The Boy, the mole, the fox and the Horse” and the children have enjoyed both the sentiment of the book and also the fantastic illustrations.

In phonics we have been checking what we can recall and thinking about where we can improve through songs, games and challenges.

Our maths lessons have enabled us to see what areas of Number we are confident with and what we find more challenging. This will provide the focus for our future lessons.

The children had great fun making their pyramids last week and this week we began our Art studies on mosaics. Science has been ‘enlightening’ as we learn about shadows and light sources!

To see what we are studying in all subjects this half term, please do refer to the Curriculum Overview for Avocado.

Overall the children have done so well in their return to school and we are looking forward to many successful and happy weeks of learning!
