Year two have been completing an exciting project called ‘Arts Discover Award’.
Arts Award Discover is an introductory award, designed for ages 5 and above, but is open to children and young people aged up to 25.
To achieve an Arts Award Discover, children and young people collect evidence in an individual arts log of their experiences of:
•taking part in arts activities
•researching artists or craftspeople and their work
•sharing their arts discoveries
This year, Year 2 made their own booklets! This definitely added an extra layer of creativity.
Firstly, the children were able to share all of the Arts activities they have taken part in at Central. These ranged from: weekly dance lessons, Drama Hut workshops, Art lessons, Creative Arts Showcase and many more! It was so clear that all of Year 2 value the Arts so much.
Secondly, the children learnt all about Livi Gosling’s work as an illustrator. The children explored her work and prepared some questions to ask Livi. The children got to make some of their own ‘Gosling’ style illustrations and hear all about what life is like as an illustrator. This really inspired the children to become illustrators.
Finally, the children selected their favourite piece of Art work and shared this with a peer. They gave compliments about each other’s work and referred to the Artistic skills they have been developing.
Well done Year 2 for some amazing, personalised projects! Thank you to Miss White, our Creative Arts leader, for organising this for Year 2!
