This week was Art Week, which meant that all classes took part in a variety of art activities throughout the school.
Early Years painted stones, inspired by artist James Brunt and created their own gallery inspired by the book ‘The Dot’.
Our Year 1’s created their own tassels using recycled fabric and self portraits inspired by the artist Freda Kahlo.
Year 2 and 5 took part in a workshop with local illustrator Livi Gosling, where they hosted a Q&A and illustrated their own map of the UK. In Year 2 the children have also been working on their Arts Award Discover, and learning a variety of other new skills.
Linking to their topic theme of India, Year 3 created batik resist textiles pieces and also took part in a model making workshop with Hertfordshire University Model Making students.
Felted landscapes were created by the children in Year 5, and Year 6 have been creating their own slab bowls, which will be glazed and fired, ready for our Creative Arts Showcase at the end of the half term.
The week has been full of excitement and we couldn’t be happier with some of the art work we have seen!
